Mirror, Mirror…

A true reflection of projects past, these mirrors are created utilizing pieces of leftover wood from large home and furniture jobs, each one-of-a-kind piece is inspired by the materials at hand. Not only are the wooden frames created from up-cycled wood the mirrors are salvaged, too. When a resourceful friend happened upon a large sheet of heavy-gauge mirror dating to the fifties he was kind enough to snag it with this endeavor in mind. Such materials are always wonderful to have when a project takes shape, enabling Kelly to cut his own mirror-glass as needed to fit dimensional frames. Since the mirrors shown are all created from “scraps” their sizes reflect the available wood.

The first incarnation of reclaimed mirrors were made as holiday and occasion gifts for family/ friends using a cache of leftover pine from a pair of barn doors Kelly was hired to replace. The recipients of the original pieces were elated and immediately embarked on the task of brainstorming the ideal spot for display in their respective homes. Once hung, each of these mirrors quickly became a seamless “reflection” of the existing decor. Presently available in a variety of wood choices and sizes, these mirrors are a thoughtful, sustainable, and beautifully crafted gift for any occasion. With wedding season upon us the inevitable search for a perfect gift– or 5– is no doubt underway. Traveling this summer? These mirrors make a lovely and lasting thank-you for your gracious host. From away? Indulge in an affordable, Maine-made piece for your year-round home.
